Carter spent his last three of his 19 NHL seasons in Pittsburgh.

Jeff Carter is calling it a career after 19 seasons in the NHL.

The Penguins winger announced after last night's loss to the Islanders that he was hanging up his skates.

The 39-year-old winger spent his last 3 full seasons playing for the Penguins after he was acquired in a trade at the deadline late in the 2021 season.

Carter won two Stanley Cups in his career in addition to an Olympic gold medal playing for Team Canada in 2014 games in Sochi.

During his 19-year career, Carter played over 1,300 games and scored 442 goals and 851 points.

Carter put a bow on his career by scoring a goal in his final game last night against the Islanders and went out in style, with all of the New York players coming to shake his hand before he left the ice.

Carter said after the game last night that he and his family will be staying in the Pittsburgh area.

Before he was traded to the Penguins, Carter played for the Kings where he won the two Cups, the Blue Jackets, and the Flyers, who drafted Carter in 2003.
