Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was back on the ice taking part in the team’s morning skate on Monday.

Nylander was in a normal contact practice sweater but was skating as an extra forward and did not participate in power-play drills.

After the morning skate, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe didn’t rule out Nylander being able to play Monday.

 “He looked food,” Keefe said. “We’ll see how he feels here the rest of the day here and make a decision.”

On Sunday, Keefe had no updates on Nylander’s status for Game 2 when asked by reporters.

Nylander missed Game 1 against the Boston Bruins with an undisclosed injury.

Keefe also offered no potential updates on whether he is considering changes to the goaltending lineup ahead of Game 2. Toronto lost 5-1 to Boston in the series opener with Ilya Samsonov in net.

Nylander scored 40 goals for the second straight season and set a career high with 98 points in 2023-24, but registered just four assists over his final 11 games of the schedule. Nylander had four goals and 10 points in 11 playoff games last spring as Toronto won a series for the first time in nearly two decades.
