LSU star Angel Reese came off the board with the No. 7 overall pick of this year's WNBA Draft Monday night.

Reese was selected by the Chicago Sky with the franchise's second pick of the first round. With the No. 3 overall choice, Chicago took South Carolina center Kamilla Cardoso.

Doubling up with Cardoso and Reese gives the Sky a formidable frontcourt. The two SEC stars should made opposing teams think twice about driving the lane or hitting the glass.

Shortly after being drafted and leaving the stage, Reese recorded a brief message for Sky fans.

"Hey Chi-town, it's Angel Reese, the Bayou Barbie," she said in the video. "I'm coming to Chi-town, I'm super excited to compete, work hard, and let's win."

Reese was one of the best players in college basketball the last couple of seasons, but she said tonight she's ready to adjust to the pro game.

"I want to be a rookie again. I wanna be knocked down by vets and I wanna be able to get up and grow and be a sponge, so I'm just super excited to play with amazing players and against amazing players," Reese said. "This league is really competitive, and I'm a competitive player, so I wanna play against a lot of players."

Since 2013, the Sky have been consistent winners, reaching the playoffs in nine out of 11 seasons. Chicago also won the 2021 WNBA championship.

The Sky are coming off a first-round playoff loss to the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces in 2023.
