Back in December, the Indiana Fever won the WNBA Draft Lottery. As a result, they earned the right to select Iowa star Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in this past Monday's draft.

During an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" this Wednesday afternoon, Clark revealed that she was hoping the Fever would win the WNBA Draft Lottery.

"When the draft lottery happened, I had a game on the same exact night, but I was hoping the Fever got the first pick," Clark said.

Even though Clark is finally moving on from Iowa, she seems amped up about playing professional basketball in Indiana.

"Obviously, I'm a Midwest girl, I'm from Iowa. This is five hours from Iowa City, seven hours from Des Moines where I grew up. But I'm super pumped — this is a basketball state. People love it here."

As for the Fever's outlook for the 2024 season, Clark believes the Fever have the talent to make some noise very soon.

"There's so much young talent on our roster and we're gonna feed off the energy of the fans," Clark said. "There's definitely gonna be some learning curves but with the talent around me I can't wait to feed them the ball."

Last season, the Fever went 13-27 with Christie Sides at the helm. The franchise would love to make the playoffs in Year 1 with Clark.

Clark will make her WNBA debut on May 14 against the Connecticut Sun.
