The New Orleans Pelicans have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the last few weeks, winning seven of their last eight games as they fight for playoff position in the Western Conference.

The Pelicans have been led by Zion Williamson during their run, who seems to be in the best shape of his career as the season reaches its most important point.

FOX Sports' Colin Cowherd, who has been critical of Williamson in the past, isn't sold.

He commented on Williamson's reported weight loss, claiming that he can't tell that the star forward has slimmed down.

"He doesn't look skinny at all," Cowherd said on his show The Herd. "You think he looks like he lost 25 pounds?"

Cowherd then focused his attention on the people of New Orleans as a whole.

"Nobody in New Orleans has abs. It's just impossible," Cowherd added.

"I guess, unless if you're a pro athlete, it's very hard to have abs in New Orleans.

In Ames, Iowa? They have abs. They don't have all those shrimp and oysters. The NBA thought Zion would be the face of the league. He's not even close to the face of the league. A lot of it is jambalaya, let's be honest about that."

It's not the first time Williamson's conditioning has been questioned this season.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith was critical of Williamson's figure last month, saying "[t]hat's what he has to prove, that the chefs don't love him any longer."

Williamson is on track to pass the 65-game mark for the first time in his career, and the Pelicans are currently fifth in the Western conference, so it appears that he's reached a point where he can get through an entire season.

He'll still have critics, but it's clear that Williamson has attempted to get in better shape and take his health more seriously at this stage of his career.
