Final Four hero Lamont Butler is transferring.

Butler, the San Diego State guard who sunk the shot to defeat FAU at the buzzer of the 2023 Final Four contest, is leaving the program on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2 guard entered the NCAA transfer portal. He'll be seeking a new program moving forward.

He announced his decision on social media.

"My last 4 years at San Diego State has been a dream come true. We've been able to accomplish so much in my time here. I will forever cherish the memories I made in an Aztec jersey. I've made lifelong friendships and was gifted with a brotherhood that no one can take away from me," he wrote.

"Thank you to the Show and the amazing fans for your support. Thank you to my coaches for allowing me to be an intricate member of this program. Thank you to my teammates for helping me grow as a person and always being there for me. Thank you to the city of San Diego for embracing my family and I. San Diego will always be home!"

Butler will be pursuing a new program.

The NCAA Transfer Portal remains incredibly active, weeks after the 2023-24 season ended.
