Despite it being a major position of need, the Dallas Cowboys did not take a single RB in this year's draft.

After losing Tony Pollard to the Titans in free agency, Dallas has three unproven running backs left on its roster. Something that NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport attempted to make sense of on Saturday:

Here's what I would say... Running backs are cheap. You have all the premium positions that really cost a lot of money — offensive line, they've dug deep on the offensive line. Great way to have a good value roster is to have cheap offensive lineman who are really good. Do you pay the running backs in free agency — [Ezekiel Elliott's] not going to make that much if he joins and you draft the rest.

The Cowboys currently have a running back room made up of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn and Royce Freeman.

Adding Zeke to that would give the team a capable RB, but it's clear at this point that he's no longer the type of player who can carry a run game on his own.

This isn't exactly what Cowboys fans were expecting when owner Jerry Jones said he was going "all-in."

We'll see how it works out for them.
