As expected, North Carolina guard RJ Davis is returning to Chapel Hill for his fifth collegiate season.

Davis made the news official in an Instagram post Wednesday morning, announcing simply "I'm back."

The 6-foot star, who was a Wooden Award finalist and Associated Press first-team All-American in 2023-24, averaged 21.2 points and 3.5 assists per game last season.

Davis, who won ACC Player of the Year, also shot a career-best 39.8% from three-point range while leading the Tar Heels to the ACC regular season title and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Some of Davis' top performances included a 42-point outburst against Miami in which he hit 7-of-11 three-pointers, a 36-point effort vs. Wake Forest and 30-point games against Arkansas and NC State in the ACC Tournament championship game.

While Davis' season ended on a low note with a 4-for-20 showing in a Sweet 16 loss to Alabama, the White Plains, N.Y. native will have another chance to win a national championship next season.

North Carolina, which returns guards Elliot Cadeau and Seth Trimble and is in the market for several major transfers, will also welcome five-star prospects Ian Jackson and Drake Powell to campus this fall.

On paper, the Heels should battle it out with arch rival Duke for conference supremacy in 2024-25.
