Just two weeks after the death of former NFL star O.J. Simpson, a movie about his life is in production.

Well, it's kind of about his life. According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, British director Joshua Newton is working on a film about how Simpson might have been innocent in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

The film already cast Charlotte Kirk as Nicole Brown Simpson and Boris Kodjoe as the former USC star.

According to the Hollywood reported, Newton has been working on this "satirical thriller" since 2015. He revealed the main plotline "involves a real-life attorney named Douglas McCann who got sucked into various conspiracy theories during Simpson's 1995 criminal trial."

Newton thought he found the perfect actor for the role in Owen Wilson, but Wilson had other ideas.

"Owen Wilson was perfect for the role," Newton said. "I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everybody loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million."

"But at the end of the lunch, Owen stood up and said, 'If you think I'm going to take the lead role in a movie about how O.J. didn't do it, you've got to be kidding me.'"

Newton will have to find someone else.
