Earlier Wednesday morning ESPN dropped a long-form report on the downfall of the New England Patriots dynasty and Bill Belichick's subsequent attempt to land a different head coaching job.

The article focused on Belichick's interviews with several teams including the Carolina Panthers. While the article centered on Belichick and his seemingly fractured relationship with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, it was a different owner who captured some of the headlines.

According to the report from Don Van Natta Jr, Seth Wickersham and Jeremy Fowler, Panthers owner David Tepper "often" critiques his coach's play-calling.

From ESPN:

The Carolina Panthers briefly discussed Belichick, before he signed his two-year extension with New England a year ago. But this offseason, Carolina decided to pass, a source said. Panthers owner David Tepper often sifts through data to critique his coach's playcalling. That, according to a source, "is tough to do with Belichick as the figurehead." The Panthers opted for 42-year-old former Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Dave Canales.

It's not surprising to hear Tepper meddling in his coach's affairs. One of the richest owners in the league, he's had six different head coaches since he took over the franchise in 2018.

We'll have to wait and see how former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales handles the pressure of being Tepper's head coach.
