The New Orleans Saints added a former third-round pick to their quarterback room this Friday.

It was just announced that Kellen Mond has agreed to terms with the Saints. It's most likely a one-year deal for the former Texas A&M star.

Mond started his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. After he was waived in 2022, he was quickly picked up by the Cleveland Browns. That change of scenery didn't do much for his career, though.

This past season, Mond spent time on the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad. His contract expired in January.

Earlier this week, Kellen Mond showcased his skills at the San Francisco 49ers' local pro day. After completing his workout, he told reporters that he was hoping for another opportunity in the NFL.

"I was just contacted by my agent a few days ago and just figured it was a good opportunity for me to come out and throw," Mond said, via 49ers WebZone. "And something I was kind of already familiar with, with the system out here, just being with Klint Kubiak back in my rookie year. So, a lot of the verbiage was already pretty smooth out here. But just getting another opportunity to throw is always good for me."

Mond will get to work with Kubiak once again since he's the new offensive coordinator for the Saints.

Derek Carr is the unquestioned starter for the Saints, but a battle for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart could take place this summer. Mond will have to beat out Nathan Peterman and Jake Haener for the job.
