Indy Star columnist Gregg Doyel is being called out by one of his USA TODAY colleagues for his behavior at Caitlin Clark's introductory press conference on Wednesday.

Doyel, who has since apologized, had a bizarre/creepy interaction with Clark at her Indiana Fever press conference. It went like this:

Doyel: "Gregg Doyel, Indy Star. Real quick, let me do this. [Heart hands gesture.]"

Clark: "You like that?"

Doyel: "I like that you're here, I like that you're here."

Clark: "Yeah, I do that to my family after every game. Pretty cool."

Doyel: "Well, start doing it to me, and we'll get along just fine."

Christine Brennan, a sports columnist at USA TODAY, is calling on her paper's network to discipline Doyel.

"This isn't just creepy, "it's sexual harassment," well-known Title IX lawyer Nancy Hogshead told me this morning regarding the conduct of Indy Star columnist Gregg Doyel at the Caitlin Clark press conference Wednesday. Where is the USA Today Network on this? APSE?" she wrote.

Doyel attempted to apologize on social media on Wednesday evening.

"Today in my uniquely oafish way, while welcoming @CaitlinClark22 to Indy, I formed my hands into her signature 🫶. My comment afterward was clumsy and awkward. I sincerely apologize. Please know my heart (literally and figuratively) was well-intentioned. I will do better," he wrote.
