Michael Porter Jr.'s brother will be behind bars for a little while.
Coban Porter has been sentenced to six years of jail time after he was involved in a deadly DUI crash.
According to KDVR.com, he was driving around 50 MPH when he ran a red light and crashed into a 2023 Tesla T3 driven by Katharina Rothman.
She was pronounced dead on the scene while a passenger in her car was seriously hurt. At the time of the crash, Porter's blood alcohol level was 0.20, which was 0.12 above the legal limit.
Porter was arrested on Jan. 22, 2023, but pled not guilty to DUI charges in October of that year. He then changed his tune in February when he pleaded guilty before he got sentenced on Friday.
"All I can really say is that I'm sorry," Porter said in court on Friday. "I know that I'm never going to be able to right that wrong… I never thought I'd be standing here. I thought I was invincible. It wasn't the first time I chose to drink and drive… I'm so sorry."
Before getting arrested, Porter was a men's basketball player at the University of Denver.
Coban's brother, Michael, is getting set for the Denver Nuggets' opening-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers. It's a rematch of last year's Western Conference Finals, a series that the Nuggets won in four games.
Game 1 will be on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
