Walker Buehler Looking Forward to Pressure That Comes From Dodgers Return

After nearly two years on the mend, Dodgers All-Star Walker Buehler is set to return to a big league mound. Monday will be the first time he will pitch for Los Angeles since June 10, 2022, in San Francisco, California.
It was a long journey for the former first-round draft pick, and Monday will finally be the day he returns to the Dodger Stadium mound. While Buehler may not look like the two-time All-Star right away, Buehler says he’s looking forward to the pressure that comes from his return.
"If I don't, there's something wrong with me other than the UCL. I think that's the biggest thing of being a starting pitcher, which is having that ownership of the game."

In his career, Buehler has repeatedly shown that he is among the best pitchers in the league. Nobody was better than the right-hander from 2019-21. He went 31-8 with a 2.89 ERA, 469 strikeouts, and a 0.99 WHIP in 71 starts.
His second Tommy John surgery is finally behind him, and although he is looking forward to the pressure, at the end of the day, he’s just excited to be back out there with his teammates.
"Yeah, it's been a long time and a long process but I finally put together some things at Triple-A. I think we all felt pretty comfortable with Monday being the date. I'm looking forward to it."

Buehler will at least start off with an easy opponent as the Dodgers will face the lowly Miami Marlins for a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. The Kentucky native’s adrenaline will be at an all-time high Monday at 7:10 p.m. PT.
