NXT North American Title Match Set For NXT Battleground

Oba Femi will defend the gold at WWE NXT Battleground.

On the May 21 episode of WWE NXT, Ivar was set to face Wes Lee and Josh Briggs in a Triple Threat match to determine who would challenge Femi for the NXT North American Championship at NXT Battleground. However, Gallus took Ivar out with a backstage attack on the May 14 episode. Joe Coffey of Gallus then took Ivar’s place in the bout.

The three contenders battled it out throughout the match. Briggs took control by showing his power, but Lee used his athleticism to gain momentum. Coffey gained the upper hand and grounded Briggs, but Lee dove onto them. Lee then took flight and dove onto Briggs at ringside. Coffey slammed him onto the apron. Later in the match, Gallus interfered and attacked Briggs. In the end, Lee and Coffey both pinned Briggs. Both men were declared the winner, leaving the title match up in the air.

NXT General Manager Ava then confirmed that Femi would defend the title against both Lee and Coffey at NXT Battleground.
