Conor McGregor has urged Canelo Alvarez to fight Oscar De La Hoya after their on-stage row.

Alvarez will meet Jaime Munguia on May 4 in Las Vegas, with his rival promoted by ring legend De La Hoya, who guided his career for several years under the Golden Boy Promotions banner.

At the fight week press conference, things turned sour between Alvarez and ‘Golden Boy’ with the Mexican getting to his feet and confronting the promoter before they were separated by security.

After their public feud, UFC superstar McGregor took to social media to claim he would be open to promoting the fight under bare knuckle rules.

He wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I'd love these two go at it Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

“Take off the gloves and fight, b***h! @bareknucklefc.”

McGregor recently announced that he has become a part owner of bare-knuckle fighting promotion BKFC, so is clearly keen to bring high-profile stars to the ring.

De La Hoya has retired from fighting in 2008, but has regularly teased a comeback fight including when he came close to returning in his cancelled exhibition with Vitor Belfort in 2021.

It is highly unlikely Alvarez would ever entertain any fight with his 51-year-old rival, particularly under radical bare-knuckle rules.

The pound-for-pound superstar had already suggested he was not interested in speaking to De La Hoya prior to their fiery showdown on stage, after their relationship turned sour.

But tensions boiled over as the Golden Boy Promotions’ chief grabbed the microphone and stated he made the undisputed super-middleweight champion’s career.

After stepping towards the champion which saw the pair nearly come to blows, Alvarez went on a furious rant and laid down the law of his own to De La Hoya.

He shouted: “I said he’s a f***ing a**hole. “He tried to keep the attention on him, not for Munguia.

“He steals from his fighters, that’s what he does. F***ing p***y. motherf***er.

“He’s mad I left Golden Boy. I’m the diamond in Golden Boy. Golden Boy is not the same without me.

“I don’t really give a s*** about Oscar, but if he says something in my territory, I need to say something.”
